Summit Xpose IIs Goggles

Summit Xpose IIs Goggles Review

Designed for the smaller face, the Summit Xpose IIs goggles are a comfortable fit with magnetically fixed lenses for an extremely fast change over.

Summit are an independent British brand that boast the Summit Xpose of having one of the fastest lens changing systems in the world!

The goggles have an 8 magnetic eye quick release system in which you simply pull off the lens from the frame and snap another into place within seconds.  Although indisputably fast, i wondered how secure the lenses were?

I spent a week in Andorra testing these goggles and although I didn’t have a bad tumble, I never felt there was any danger in the lenses becoming loose or falling out.  The magnetic eyes seem to hold the lens securely against the frame.

I chose the Xpose IIs because I have an unusual shaped nod in that I have a narrow face but big head (no, I am not an alien!).  Normally, goggles are very uncomfortable in that they put pressure on the bridge of my nose, or that I cannot get them tight enough over the eyes.  For me the Summit Xpose IIs was the perfect fit as they felt more comfortable than any other goggles that I have had, with no pressure on my nose.

In the package Summit supply two UV400 anti-fog lenses; one for low light and one for bright conditions.  In Andorra we had the changeable weather to the extreme and when the sun was out, the coloured mirror lens not only looked amazing, it really worked well.  Even when I got hot, the goggles never steamed up inside.

The clear lens was fantastic in low light.  My friends were all complaining that they could not see anything but I could clearly see the contours of the snow so didn’t get any nasty surprises.

The Summit Xpose IIs have an minimalistic frame and very light.  The strap easily fitted around my large helmet and can be adjusted to wear underneath as well.  I also like the fact that Summit supply the goggles with a stylish but sturdy case to protect them.

Overall, I loved these goggles and would have rated them 10/10 if they supplied polarised lenses with the Xpose IIs, as Summit do with other models.  But, these are stylish, quality goggles at a good price, that not only look good, but really do the business out on the mountain.
