Dare2b Gallant Jacket Review

The Dare2b Gallant jacket has military inspired styling and is part of the Dare2b Urban Clothing range. Available in both Airforce Blue and Brown Rubber colour styles.

The Gallant jacket has been designed to look good as an everyday urban jacket that you can walk around town in as well as out on the slopes. The military inspired styling is modern, simple and stylish, but, although I personally liked the Brown Rubber colour, I reckon this would be Marmite to most people. The ‘Air Force Blue’ version is a good alternative.

The clean lines and simplicity is achieved by a magnetic closure to the stormflap down the front and a clever design of the multiple pockets, with zipped front pockets hidden from view. The Sherpa lined hood is also a nice touch.

The jacket is fully waterproof and windproof using an Ared 8000 coated textured fabric, but being a hybrid jacket it does sacrifice on a couple of features for the sake of style, including underarm zips for ventilation and a dedicated ski lift pocket. There are a good number of pockets though, including one dedicated for MP3 use with an earphone entry eyelet.

I found the Gallant jacket to be very warm and comfortable and is good for peak season snowboarding and skiing. As with a lot of jackets and especially as it does not have the underarm ventilation zips, the jacket is probably not suitable for fair-weather spring shredding.

Although not as feature heavy as other jackets, it’s purposely not designed to be and crosses the gap of urban and slope fashion well. It is not for back-country ventures, but ideal for those who who want to spend their time shredding the slopes, hitting the parks, jibbing street rails and then straight to the Après Ski scene.

All in all, a good all-rounder.
