Artist Martina Diez-Routh will open her home studio this November as part of the Lee Green Open Studios 2025, inviting visitors to discover her latest collection of Alpine-inspired artworks — including her new oil painting “A Room with a View at the Almhof over Haunold.”

The piece, painted in oils on board (51 × 41 cm | 20 × 16 inches), was inspired by mornings at the Almhof hotel in the Drei Zinnen (Three Peaks) region of Südtirol, northern Italy, overlooking the Haunold (2,966 m).

“It’s about that quiet moment when the first light hits the Dolomitic rock,” says Diez-Routh. “I stayed there mostly because of that view — it’s impossible not to paint it.”

Martina, known for her evocative mountain landscapes and plein-air studies, has been developing new techniques over the past year through courses at the Blackheath Conservatoire, where she has expanded her practice to include watercolours and oils alongside her signature soft pastels.

Her recent works reflect a growing interplay between light, texture, and emotion — from Alpine vistas to Lake Como reflections and London skies.

Lee Green Open Studios 2025

  • Weekends: 15–16 & 22–23 November
  • 11 AM – 5 PM
  • 25a Newstead Road, London SE12 0SY (Entrance through the garden door)

Although slightly off the official map of the Open Studios trail, Diez-Routh chose to exhibit from her home studio so she can continue working during the event.

“This setup allows me to paint and meet visitors in the same space,” she explains. “It’s quieter, but the people who come are genuinely interested in the work — and I can show them the process as it happens.”
