Hitting adulthood as a young skier could only mean one thing – more après! Now I just needed to look the part, and brave the toss up between style and functionality. However, with the Helly Hansen Women’s Après Knitted Sweater there really is no bargaining, with its retro charm blended with modern tech checking every single box.
This sweater serves as a nostalgic nod to 90s ski culture (or so I’ve been told, I’m a millennium baby!). I opted for the red and navy option as I was immediately drawn in by the popping colours and bold style. Its aesthetic is playful yet sophisticated, perfect for making a statement both on and off the slopes. Its midweight build hits the sweet spot – cosy enough for layering but not overly bulky, and warm enough to kick back in the sun after a long day of shredding the slopes.
It is slightly on the pricy side but this is a quality sweater. It is made with a 65% Merino wool and 35% polyamide blend, it’s soft against the skin while maintaining durability. Merino’s natural temperature regulation makes it ideal for a range of conditions, from lightly snowy days on the mountain to après-ski relaxation. I wore it during a chilly afternoon, and it kept me perfectly warm without overheating. The wool also feels breathable, which is a must for any activewear.
