Tina Maze, Olympic champion and Eurosport winter sports expert, said:

“I’m really excited about this season. I think the only one who can compete with Mikaela Shiffrin right now is Emma Aicher, and maybe this will be the first year where we really see a tight battle for the Crystal Globe right to the end. We want to see different athletes, different mentalities and different countries – that is what makes sport interesting. With Petra Vlhová back on snow and so many exciting young names coming through in Italy, it’s going to be a fascinating season.”

The 2026-2027 winter sports season follows a record-breaking period of coverage and audience engagement for Eurosport, TNT Sports and HBO Max. Its coverage of every event at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 across Europe saw three times as many streaming subscribers watching on HBO Max (compared to its streaming coverage of the previous Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 on discovery+) with linear viewership on Eurosport and TNT Sports also increasing with +50% more hours viewed overall (vs Beijing 2022).

Outside of its Games-time coverage, Eurosport, TNT Sports and HBO Max captivated a huge number of winter sports fans across Europe all season long with 86.5 million fans reached across all platforms. Similarly, winter sports coverage on HBO Max attracted +35% more subscribers than the previous season with audience growth across all major winter sports including ski jumping (+40%), alpine skiing (+27%) and biathlon (+18%).

Among the first winter sports events live on Eurosport, TNT Sports and HBO Max, the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup begins in Sölden, Austria on 24-25 October followed by the start of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup from Lillehammer, Norway on 20-23 November, and the IBU Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland from 26-29 November.
