For the 2017/18 Winter season the jewel of the Tyrolean ski areas have invested in added comfort and greater convenience for Winter sports lovers. The new 8-seater gondola from Auffach up to the Schatzberg and the new Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser on the Wiedersbergerhorn in Alpbach are two highlights.
The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau with its 109 km pistes – of which 80% are technically equipped with snow canons – is one of the largest in the Tyrol. For the third year running Winter Web portal schneehoehen.de users chose the skiing area as overall winner (2014-2017).
Other international test platforms such as skiresort and skiarea have awarded gold seals of approval for the ski area and for piste quality. The area has been declared the ideal Winter sports destination for families.
New 8-seater Gondola as from December 2017
The new 8-seater gondola lift leading from Auffach up to the Schatzberg will commence operation as from the beginning of December. The approx. 4 km long lift can transport 2.650 persons per hour. The new lift cost approx. EUR 18 mi. Amongst its innovations are a comfortable, barrier-free access, indoor ticket desks and a large sports shop. This renovation ensures that the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau main access points are all serviced by modern high-capacity lifts.
New Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser Alpine coaster – as from September 2017
The new „Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser“ Alpine coaster in Alpbach, next to the Wiedersbergerhornbahn top station, will open in September. The modern Alpine Coaster will treat thrill seekers of all age groups to a trip along a winding and undulating one km long track towards the Kohlgruben lift. At the end of the ride one stays seated and is pulled back to the tracks starting point. The „Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser“ is open in both Winter and Summer and is a great off piste Ski Juwel asset.
Fun slope, snow parks and more
There are new snow parks on the Schatzberg and on the Wiedersberger Horn. The Funslope & Family Park Alpbachtal will be great fun for the kids. Also, there is no need to stop skiing or snowboarding when the sun goes down, as every Friday and Saturday there is night skiing on the Reither Kogel. Those in search of something more unusual should consider signing on at the Reitherkogelbahn in Reith im Alpbachtal as a piste basher co-pilot. One can see there is something exciting to do for everybody on the Ski Juwel’s snow covered slopes.
Winter hiking and tobogganing
Want a break from skiing? A lovely hiking path leading through striking Tyrolean scenery leads down to Auffach from the Schatzbergbahn middle station. All those who love exercise combined with plenty of fresh air should do the hike on the circular path on the Reither Kogel. Starting from the top station a moderately undulating trail leads through snow covered countryside.
A more exhilarating way of getting down a mountain is on an exhilarating toboggan ride! The more ambitious can reach the start of their chosen run on foot whilst others will find a more convenient ride with the Schatzbergbahn in Auffach or the Lanerköpflbahn in Niederau that brings them to the start of the toboggan runs. There are also nocturnal tobogganing facilities at the Roggenboden in Oberau and in Auffach and at the end there are huts that cater for hungry and thirsty tobogganers and provide for ideal locations to warm up in.
During the daytime the very brave are bound to enjoy the experience a birds eye view of the beautiful Ski Juwel from a birds eye view. Qualified glider pilots offer paragliding or hang-gliding flights – an unforgettable experience.
Easy accessibility and Wi-Fi – Tweet away!
Despite the regions idyllic seclusion it is easily accessible as it is a mere 15 minutes from the Inn Valley motorway. Innsbruck airport is 40 minutes’ drive away. It goes without saying the ski bus services are free of charge.
Whilst sitting on one of the lifts should one need to use ones mobile phone designated hotspots enable free Wi-Fi. Over 25 huts cater for guests culinary desires. At all bottom stations ski lockers for skiers and snow boarders to store their sports equipment enable hassle free starts (no lugging heavy gear around) to great ski days.
Loads of fun – no extra costs
The „Alpbachtal Seenland Card“ and the „Wildschönau Card“ guest cards offer each and every guest extra services without extra costs. The use of the ski buses is one of the included services, as are guided snow shoe walks. The guest cards enable free use of the cross country trails and many other services are also free of charge.
